The following statement helps to guide carers and people with additional needs when planning a visit to a Wild Tree Adventures event. This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe what we offer.
Our aim is to provide an activity to enable anyone from 6 years onwards to participate in our Wild Tree Adventures with the proviso that the safety equipment must be able to be correctly and safely fitted to the participant.
Wild Tree Adventures’ tree climbing adventure is physically demanding, requiring a degree of physical fitness and co-ordination to operate and manoeuvre the climbing system. This involves repeated movements and utilises both hands and arms and standing up one leg. Two highly skilled and friendly instructors will teach you how to enter a tree’s canopy using ropes, knots and karabiners, whilst being securely attached in a harness at all times. Once at the top of the tree you will gain an experience which can’t be found on the ground whilst hanging out in the canopy and if you’re feeling brave you could try some branch walking before returning safely to the ground. Each session is run for up to 8 people, creating a unique and intimate experience.
Before starting, all customers observe a short demonstration. It is important that customers are able to understand and apply this. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death. The demonstration takes approximately 5 minutes. If a participant is unable to remain attentive during this period and apply the knowledge independently then the activity is unsuitable for them.
Parents, carers and guardians can enter the climbing zone (whilst of course staying firmly on the ground) to give additional supervision where required. We offer our skills and attention however, if 1:1 dedicated time is required then it may be necessary to book out an entire timeslot. Please contact us before booking your tickets to discuss this further.
It is important to note that our ‘Instructor to Participant’ ratios may not be appropriate for participants with additional needs. Nor are the Wild Tree Adventures staff medically qualified to be able to advise on the assistance needed for any special needs. Therefore, it remains your responsibility to assess the activity prior to participating.
We can offer you written risk assessments, but strongly advise you to observe one of our events in advance to carry out your own specific risk assessment and /or consult a doctor for advice. Although we are unable to set a definitive risk assessment for special needs we have considered the following: We strongly advise that the following conditions should prevent participation in Wild Tree Adventures events due to any possible adverse effects of medication and the risk of unpredictable behaviour.

- Chronic Schizophrenia

Wild Tree Adventures is a mobile, recreational tree climbing and adventuring company which travels around using a variety of excellent locations. For each event, please see the location’s webpage for all details of café, shop, disabled toilets and disabled parking. Please note: there may be no toilet facilities within easy walking distance of the tree.
If your completed risk assessment concludes that a participant with additional needs would be able to take part with additional supervision and/or time, please contact us before booking. We believe in making adventure accessible for all, and we will do our best to make this happen. However, we are responsible for the health and safety of all our customers and staff, and there may be limitations to the level of individual support that we can offer.
Please speak to us if you think your group may require any additional support prior to making your booking.
This is a fantastic adventure for kids and adults. We climbed a massive oak tree (myself and my two boys 11 and 16) … You climb the tree in your own time I went up once and sat and admired the view for a while but my youngest boy managed to go up and down three times. The price of the ticket included access to Bowhill grounds which as the sun was shining was great to walk around and there is also a courtyard coffee shop. All Highly recommended.
Me (47) plus two daughters (13 & 8) had a great time. The rope climbing system is pretty straightforward & instructors happy to help/encourage. Didn’t occur to me to feel anything other than safe. Thrilled to get to the top & just sit for a moment & look at incredible views. Great to find something we could all do together & being outside at beautiful Bowhill made it extra special…Highly recommend to all!
Such a fun day filming [for ITV] with Wild Tree Adventures at Bowhill today. I’m not great with heights so was super chuffed at making it to the top of this 70ft oak! Big thanks to Tim and Carla for looking after me. Get booked up!
